Marywood Takes No. 4 Seed in CSAC Playoffs Following Loss

Hackettstown, N.J. – The Marywood University men's lacrosse team was held scoreless for the final 13:39 of regulation as Centenary College outlasted the Pacers 10-9 to earn the No. 3 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs. The Cyclones trailed by one goal before finishing the game with two straight points.

Fourth-seeded Marywood will travel to No. 1 Cabrini College in the CSAC semifinal Saturday. The Cyclones will take on second-seeded Gwynedd Mercy University.

The Pacers wrap the regular season with a 6-10 overall record and a 4-3 mark during conference play.

Scott Slater led the Pacers with three goals and one assist. Rob Maini assisted nearly half the Pacers' goals with four.

Matt Casto garnered two goals and an assists. Stephen Deiner tallied a pair of goals.

Riley Litman won 15 of 20 faceoff chances with eight ground balls. In net, Chris Favale made 12 saves.

Centenary was propelled by a pair of three-goal efforts from Nolan Gottshall and Trevor Kupinski. The Cyclones received a pair of stellar defensive outing with five caused turnovers from Jon Howell and seven ground balls from Gottshall.

Chris Snow evened the score at 9-9 on an unassisted goal with 8:10 remaining. Trevor Krupinski relayed a Michael Muff pass into net with 4:55 left for the eventual game-winner. Six of Kevin Switzer's 14 saves came during the Pacers' scoreless drought to end the contest.

Marywood held the largest lead of the game twice. Casto put the Pacers ahead 7-5 with 9:12 left in the third, and Deiner gave the Forest Green and Gold a 5-3 lead with 9:04 left in the first half.

Centenary outshot the Pacers by a 42-26 margin. The Cyclones won the ground ball game 34-28. Marywood was successful on 12 of 13 clears.
