Knights Take Down Pacers 5-0 in Series Opener

Scranton, PA - Neumann scored one run in five straight innings to take home a 5-0 win over host Marywood University Friday afternoon in rain delayed CSAC baseball action. The Knights improved to 17-14 (9-4 CSAC) with the win while Marywood falls to 10-19 (1-12).

After a scoreless opening three innings Neumann grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a RBI single through the right side.  Neumann doubled their lead in the fifth on a sacrifice flyout and went up 3-0 in the sixth on an RBI infield single.  The Knights would score one more again in the seventh and eighth innings to secure the win.

Mitch Clemons, Alan Nieto, Tommy Smith, Vince Rebar and Daniel Hull accounted for Marywood's five hits with Clemons smacking a double.

Justin Haddix struck out seven Knights but took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits.

Marywood and Neumann will complete their three game series Saturday with a doubleheader in Aston. Game one begins at 12:00 pm.
