Both games ended in five innings as the Pacers improved to 8-8 on the year and 5-1 in CSAC play. After Summit (4-16, 1-5) got a run on a bases loaded walk to take a 1-0 lead in the opening game's second inning, Marywood exploded for 15 runs in the bottom half of the third to put the game away early. In all, Marywood scored 15 runs on 12 hits and an error during the frame. Summit would make an attempt at a comeback in the third and fourth innings, plating seven runs over the two innings, but Marywood's early explosion was too much to overcome. Amanda Bridgwood got her first win of the year (1-0) after coming on in relief for an injured Kristie Alvarez, who took two line drives in a row off her leg in the game's second inning. Alvarez was able to exit on her own power but was removed out of caution. Alyssa Bavaro pitched the final inning for Marywood. Rossi was 2-for-2 with a double and three runs batted in in the opening game while Stephanie Bagniewski also had a big opener, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Alexa Scala, Brooke Labs and Katelyn Grimes each picked up a pair of RBI in the win. Marywood did not wait long to build a large lead in game two as the Pacers scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and added three more in the second to take a 11-2 lead and cruised to the 13-3 win. Rossi was 3-for-3 with four RBI and a triple in the nightcap. Grimes was 2-for-3 with two RBI while Sarah Recanati was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. Labs (double) and Bagniewski were both 2-for-4. Katie Siano (1-1) went the distance on the mound, striking out two and allowing one earned run on seven hits for the win. Marywood will travel to Baltimore Sunday to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University in a CSAC doubleheader. Game one is set for a 2:00 pm start.Print Friendly Version
