Marywood Finishes Third at Montgomery Cup

Doylestown, Pa. - Marywood University's men's golf team finished third of four teams at the 2016 Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont College at the Downingtown Country Club in Downingtown.  

Day one saw Marywood participate in two rounds of stroke play where the Pacers shot a 674 as a team with a 330 on the first 18 and a 344 on the second.  Nicholas Johnson was ranked seventh after day one with rounds of 80 and 77. Fred Tolerico shot a 77 and 90 to stand in 15th place.

Rosemont College (605) led as a team after day one by five strokes over Farmingdale State (610).  University of the Sciences stood fourth after a 683 total on day one.

On day two the teams played match-play, where Rosemont defeated Farmingdale State on the 18th hole to win the Cup, 3-2.

Marywood fell to Farmingdale State 3&2 in the morning and got wins from Johnson and Joe Weber.  In the afternoon, the Pacers bested the University of the Sciences 4-1 behind wins from Johnson, Weber, Joe Hunt and Austin Zehel.

Marywood hosts The University of Scranton and King's College Thursday at Glenmaura in a tri-match.
