Pacers, Aggies Finish in 1-1 Double Overtime Draw

Glenside, Pa. – The Marywood University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime Sunday against Delaware Valley University in the Arcadia Invitational consolation game.

Megan Swiecicki pulled the Pacers ahead in the 20th minute. Jacki VonItter took a through ball from Emily Gerbehy and delivered a feed to Swiecicki on a 2-on-1 breakaway. Swiecicki drove it into the net from 6 yards out for her third goal of the season. 

Delaware Valley's Karla Keler evened the score in the 40th minute. Keler took a Jennifer Wood pass and shot from 25 yards out. Her shot sailed over the keeper's head and into the net.

Aly Moyer made three saves in a complete match, including a crucial second half penalty kick stop to prevent the Aggies from going up. VonItter's assist on Swiecicki's goal marked her first collegiate point. 

Marywood outshot the Aggies by a 33-10 margin, and it held an 18-4 advantage in shots on target. The Pacers doubled Delaware Valley in corner kicks with a 12-6 differential.

The Aggies' keeper Emily Schukraft made 17 saves, including four in the overtime periods.

Marywood's defenders held the Aggies shotless in overtime, and Delaware Valley did not get off a shot on goal for the final 35 minutes of the contest.

The Pacers host crosstown foe The University of Scranton Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
