Late Goals Drop Men's Soccer at FDU

Madison, N.J. - Marywood University tied the game 2-2 in the 84th minute but conceded a goal 11 seconds later and another in the 88th minute as the Pacers fell 4-2 to FDU-Florham in non-conference men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.  The Pacers stand at 2-3 on the year while the Devils improved to 1-4-2.

In the 35th minute of play, FDU's Justin Estremera scored point blank in front of the net on a breakaway to put the hosts up 1-0.  

Marywood would even the game in the 63rd minute of action when Dylan McMahon beat a defender on the right side and put the ball in the low corner to level the match at 1-1.

Estremera would pick up his second tally of the day when he received a pass from AJ Carnevale in the 78th minute and snuck the ball in the left corner, giving the hosts a 2-1 lead.

Pushing for the equalizer, Marywood got what they were looking for in the 84th minute when Cole Belcher poked home a loose ball during a scrum in front of the Devil's net, tying the game at 2-2.

Just 11 seconds later, FDU took a long throw in and made it count as Sebastian Gallo headed home Andrew Ruane's toss for the eventual game-winner.

FDU would add an insurance goal with just 2:53 to play with Marywood again pushign for the equalizer when Estremera completed a hat-trick by scoring on his second breakaway of the day.

Patrick Brogan made eight stops for Marywood, who was out-shot 18-11 (12-9 on goal) for the day.  

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Philadelphia to take on Ursinus College at 7:30 pm.
