Volleyball Splits Against Reading-Based Lions

Reading, Pa. – Marywood University split against a pair of Reading, Pa. volleyball programs Monday. The Pacers downed Albright College Lions by a 3-0 score after falling to Penn State Berks Lions in three sets.

Marywood fell to Penn State Berks by a 25-15, 25-15, 25-18 score. In the nightcap, the Pacers defeated Albright by scores of 29-27, 25-20, 25-15.

The Pacers totaled nine aces in the win over Albright. Shayna Finn tamed the Lions with four aces and 23 digs.

Peri Sheerin notched 10 kills to lead the team offensively. Gabby Santos supplied eight kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Danielle DeIulio registered 24 assists and seven digs.

Marywood hit .134 for a team to the Lions' .063 attack percentage.

The Pacers' two-match win streak came to a close in the opener against host Penn State Berks. The Pacers had a zero attack percentage for the game with 20 kills and 20 errors.

Sheerin and Santos garnered six kills apiece. DeIulio had a double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs. Finn matched her for the team-high defense with 11 digs. Jordan Vossler added nine digs.

Penn State Berks' Morgan Schwartz had 34 assists. Alexis Horst enjoyed an all-around game with 10 kills, five blocks and 15 digs.

Marywood has two more tri-matches on schedule this week. The Pacers travel down the road to take on host The University of Scranton and Wilkes University Wednesday. Marywood returns to Reading Saturday to play Alvernia University, in addition to a Colonial States Athletic Conference match against Rosemont College (at Alvernia).
