Scranton, Pa - The University of Scranton trailed Marywood University 2-1 after doubles action but rallied to take five of six singles matches and left with a 6-3 win over the Pacers Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action. The Royals improve to 2-2 on the year while Marywood slips to 3-2.

Marywood's Abygail Doud and Kristen Lambert fell at #1 doubles by a score of 8-4 to Emily Machado and Emilia Jakubek but the Pacers won matches at #2 and #3 doubles to go into singles play with a 2-1 lead.  Avery McCall and Danielle Ogonowski were 8-4 winners in the #2 doubles match while Melanie Kobela and Nicole Sinclair were 8-2 winners at #3 doubles.

In singles play, Marywood got a win from McCall at #3 singles over Machado, 6-1, 7-5, but the Royals won matches at one, two and six singles in two sets to reclaim the lead.  At four singles, Elyse Smilnak defeated Kobela in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 and at six singles Katerina Ringes was a 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 winner over Devin Zombek.

Marywood is back in action Friday with a CSAC tilt against Keystone College at 4:00 pm. The Giants are playing as the home team even though the match will be played at Marywood University.
