Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University's campaign to return to its fourth-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer championship game began on a rocky road with a 2-0 loss Saturday to rival Keystone College.

The loss ends the Pacers' eight-game winning streak over the Giants. It is Keystone's first win over Marywood since Sept. 15, 2004 – its first since joining the CSAC.

Keystone ended a scoreless impasse in the 70th minute. Kouassi Kouadio outmaneuvered a defender and hit a chip shot over the goalkeeper's head from 10 yards out.

The Giants tallied another in the 86th minute when Harris Sabovic connected on a penalty kick. Marywood keeper Tommy McGlennon guessed correctly and got his hands on the ball before deflecting into the net.

Marywood starter Patrick Brogan made four saves in 63 minutes, 30 seconds for a no-decision. McGlennon made one save.

Brogan made an outstanding save on a 1-vs.-1 chance in the ninth minute. He saved a Haris Sabovic breakaway shot from close range.

The Pacers' best chance to tie the game came in the 73rd minute on a header by Andrew Pellechia that was saved by Malcolm Moreira. The Keystone keeper made four saves for a clean sheet.

It was the first time Marywood suffered a shutout loss in conference play since Oct. 30, 2010 against Cabrini College.

Keystone out-shot Marywood by a 16-9 margin. Both teams had a pair of corner kicks.

Marywood (2-5, 0-1 CSAC) travels to Elmira College Tuesday.
