Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University picked up its first field hockey victory of the season with a 4-0 victory over Elmira College Saturday. The Pacers allowed just two shots on goal to notch a shutout.

Freshman Lindsey Quinn made the best of her home debut with a goal and two assists. Sophomore Liz Ferg collected her first collegiate points with a goal and an assist. Cassie Stockwell and Amelia Waibel both scored their first goals of the season.

Kerri Mountz notched her first career victory and shutout with one save. Tori Jo Kakusian 86'd a Soaring Eagles shot for her second defensive save in as many games.

Marywood tacked its first goal of the game in the ninth minute of play. The speedy Quinn passed two defenders and dished it to Waibel on the right side. Waibel punched in her 10th career goal.

Ferg set up the Pacers' second goal with a long pass downfield. Stockwell made a dash for the open ball, arriving just before a charging Elmira goalkeeper. Stockwell's shot trickled off the keeper's shoe, took a fortuitous Marywood bounce and trickled into the goal for the eighth goal of her career.

In the second half, Quinn's quickness came into play again when she stole the ball from defender. She shot it to the far left side, against her momentum, and into the cage for her first goal in forest green and gold.

Exactly 10 minutes later, Quinn fed a pass out of a scrum to Ferg on the left side. Ferg found a pocket in the Soaring Eagles' defense for her first goal.

Marywood outshot the Soaring Eagles by a 22-6 margin. The Pacers held a 12-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Elmira's keeper Christina O'Donnell made five saves. Julie Hockenberger played 18 scoreless minutes with two stops.

Marywood (1-1) travels to DeSales University Friday night. The Pacers upset the Bulldogs 4-3 in overtime in the teams' last meeting in 2014.
