Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University men's soccer picked up its first victory of the season, prevailing in a 1-0 nail-biter over Wilkes University Sunday. It marks the Pacers' first shutout of a non-conference opponent since blanking Lebanon Valley College on Sept. 27, 2014.

Jimmy Fields scored the game-winning goal in the 26th minute. Fields sprinted to break away from the defense on the right side and fired a shot into the left corner of goal. It marked the senior's first goal in nearly three years. His only other career goal came against Stevenson University on Sept. 8, 2013 – just his first collegiate game.

Patrick Brogan made three saves to earn the first shutout of his career. Brogan made two key saves on Wilkes' Justin Hammert to secure the clean sheet.

Marywood outshot the Colonels by a 19-15 margin and had an 8-3 edge in shots on target.
Wilkes had an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. The Colonels had three clear chances to score on well-place crosses from the right side; however, the Wilkes forwards were unable to get into position.

Tim Gallagher, brother of Marywood's Danny Gallagher, allowed one goal and stopped seven shots in 90 minutes.

Marywood's four-game home stretch continues Saturday when it hosts Ithaca College. The Pacers and Bombers played to a 1-1 double overtime draw last season.
