Men's Golf Opens Year with Split at Scranton Tri-Match

Moosic, Pa. - Marywood University's men's golf team split their opening tri-match at Glenmaura National Tuesday afternoon after scoring 350 as a team on the afternoon.  The Pacers (1-1) fell to host The University of Scranton (314) but defeated Wilkes University (371) in the split.  Nicholas Johnson led the Pacers with a 79, putting him third overall.

Griffin Lubba led the Royals to a 2-0 afternoon and took home medalist honors after firing a two-over-par 73 on the 6,308 yard course.  Teammate Tyler Huggins was second with a +7 round of 78.  Patrick King was the third University of Scranton golfer in the top 5 with a round of 80, finishing in fourth place.  

Marywood rookie Joe Webber was fifth with a 82.  Justin Haddix (94) and Austin Zehel (95) rounded out Marywood's team scoring for the day while Fred Tolerico shot a 100 for the Pacers.  

Wilkes' top finisher was John Scalese, who shot a 91.  

Marywood is back in action this weekend at the Montgomery Cup which will be hosted by CSAC foe Rosemont College at the Downingtown Country Club.
