Towson, Md. - Marywood opened the New Year by picking up the first Landmark Conference wins of the season as the men's and women's swimming and diving programs defeated Goucher College Saturday afternoon. Both teams improved to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the Landmark as first year Head Coach Noah Beck got his first league wins.

Marywood's men's squad defeated the Gophers 135-89 while the Pacers' women cruised to a 162-89 victory.

Both the women and the men opened the meet with wins from the 200 yard medley relay teams.  Shana Carwell then won the 1000 free (12:16.81) for the women while Bryon Scholl cruised to a win by nearly a minute for the men (10:39.80).  

Virginia Cobb (2:03.85) took the women's 200 free and Joseph Buderwitz won the men's in 1:54.44.  Julia Randolph (1:07.55) and Paul Kraycer (58.25) won the 100 backstroke for the Pacers before Kyanna Cadwallader snapped the Pacers' steak of winning the first eight events with a win in the women's 100 breakstroke where she edged Marywood's Roni Shoemaker. 

Evan Romines' win in teh men's 100 breakstroke got Marywood back on track, and the Pacers followed with a win from Mia Nardone in the women's 200 butterfly.

Cobb would win again in the 50 free (25.99) and Kraycer would as well in the men's 50 free (22.65).  Mary Cate Coyle (100 free), Kraycer (100 free), Julia Randolph (200 backstroke) and Jared Lubarsky (200 backstroke) would then complete another six event run for the Pacers as they put the meet away.

Marywood is back in the pool in two weeks when the men take part in the SUNY Geneseo Invitational January 28 while the women host Juniata the same day for Landmark action.
