Baltimore – Marywood University finished January with an unblemished record for the second consecutive season with a 66-46 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University Saturday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action. The Pacers move one closer to tying a program record with their eighth consecutive victory.

The Pacers (13-6, 9-1 CSAC) retain possession of first place in the CSAC, leading Centenary University and Neumann University by one game. Both the Cyclones and Knights broke away from a four-way tie for second place with wins over Cabrini and Gwynedd Mercy, respectively.

Meanwhile, Gab Giordano posted her second 20-plus game in three games. She led the Pacers with 20 points and nine rebounds. Giordano was a rebound and three assists shy of a triple-double with a season-best seven helpers.

Giordano went 8 of 16 from the field and connected on four 3-pointers.

Alyssa Olson totaled 12 points and nine rebounds, one short of her first career double-double. Natasha Hessling missed just one shot in an 11 point effort.

Catie Nealon finished with nine points. Jordan Barth blocked four shots.

Marywood shot 45.9 percent from the field and held the Gators to a 27.4 percent mark. The Pacers outrebounded Notre Dame by a 45-33 clip.

Giordano opened with the first eight points of the game, hitting two 3-pointers and a field goal, for an 8-0 lead in the first three minutes. The Pacers' early success was squelched by an 11-point Gators' run, over a three-minute span that took a 15-7 deficit into a three-point lead. Stephanie Roche connected on a long distance shot from Dania Taylor that energized the Gators' hopes of an upset bid.

After Olson ended the four-minute drought with a layup with 36 seconds, Giordano knocked down another 3-pointer to go into the end of the first quarter with a slim 20-19 lead.
Marywood poured it on in the second quarter, opening the first five minutes on a 17-2 streak. Giordano hit her fourth trey of the game to go ahead 37-16 with 4:52 left in the half.

Notre Dame received 15 points from Zaria Comer. Justine Mudiay totaled 13 points.

Marywood has 16 straight wins in January. Its last loss dates back to Jan. 31, 2015 against Immaculata.

Marywood will look to even its program-record winning streak Wednesday against Clarks Summit University. The Pacers recorded nine game streaks in 2010-11 and 2015-16.
