Scranton, Pa. - Visiting Immaculata University overcame a career-high effort from Tip Swartz as the Mighty Macs held off Marywood 69-66 in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon in the Insalaco Arena. Immaculata improved to 6-7 (4-2 CSAC) while Marywood fell to 1-12 (1-5 CSAC).

Swartz was impressive all afternoon for Marywood, recording a game and career high 25 points to lead the Pacers.  Swartz was 9 of 18 from the floor and 5 of 10 from three point range.  Immaculata's Eric Pittman Jr. was equally impressive, scoring a team-high 23 points and helping hold Marywood off with a 9 of 11 performance on the charity stripe.

In a game that featured 10 lead changes and six ties, Marywood out-scored Immaculata by 14 (34-20) in the paint but the Mighty Macs hit 15 of 19 free throws compared to Marywood's 7 of 11 night from the line.

Both teams hit above 40% from the floor in the opening half as the visitors went into the break with a slim 35-33 lead.

Marywood opened the second frame on a 9-0 run that forced a Immaculata timeout at the 17:13 mark.  In that run, Jeremy Ringland had four points and assisted on a Swartz three.  The Mighty Macs responded by hitting a trey of their ow coming out of the break to end the Pacers' run.

Another Swartz three with 3:45 to go tied the contest at 59-59, and the sophomore would later bank in a long ball with 35.9 left on the clock to get Marywood to with two at 68-66.

But the Mighty Macs never broke, and Pittman Jr. sealed the win on the line.  He led three Immaculata players in double figures as Mike Piekarski had 13 and Roy Ferrell Jr. added 12.  The trio also combined for 24 of Immaculata's 31 boards with Ferrell Jr. leading the way with nine.

Ringland finished with 14 for Marywood and Mike Rotell nearly completed another double-double after scoring 10 and grabbing eight boards.  Dexter Shy had a game-high with 10 rebounds.

Marywood is back in action Wednesday when they host Rosemont College at 8:00 pm.
