Nealon Ties Career High as Pacers Oust Mighty Macs

Scranton, Pa. –  Marywood University used a 17-point run to take the lead and close the first half in a 78-54 win over Immaculata University Saturday. The Pacers (8-6, 4-1 CSAC) remain in a three-way tie for third place.

Catie Nealon tied a career high with 18 points on six field goals. Nealon was one rebound shy of her first career double-double.

Alyssa Olson matched Nealon in the box score with 18 points on 8 of 13 shooting off of the bench.

Natasha Hessling reached double figures for the 10th time this season with 11 points. Lisa Steakin totaled 10 points.

Gab Giordano joined Nealon with a team-best nine rebounds, in addition to five assists.

Marywood exceeded its best outing of the year from long distance. Marywood connected on six 3-pointers for a 54.5 percent clip.

Immaculata outscored Marywood 10-2 over a three-minute stretch in the second quarter to take a 20-17 lead – the Pacers' largest deficit of the contest. Marywood responded by keeping the Mighty Macs scoreless over the final 6:02 of the first half.

Nealon helped the Pacers dig themselves out of the hole with six straight points in the next minute. After making a free throw, Nealon caught a Giordano feed in the left corner and drained it to take a 21-20 lead. On the next possession, she banked a jumper to go ahead by three and ignite the Pacers' run.

Immaculata shot just 19.3 percent for the first half.

In the third quarter, the Mighty Macs cut the deficit to eight but Marywood used a seven-point run to put the game out of reach. The Pacers also scored 13 straight in the fourth.

Amber Ballinger and Tess Kieffer both led the Macs with 14 points. Tamyra Laws had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Marywood hosts Rosemont College Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
