Field Hockey Stunned by Cedar Crest in OT

Allentown, Pa. - Host Cedar Crest University stunned visiting Marywood Wednesday afternoon with a goal 1:58 into overtime, giving the Falcons a thrilling 2-1 victory on their home turf.  The hosts moved to 8-4 overall and 1-2 in the CSAC while Marywood slipped to 3-10 (2-1 CSAC).

Marywood grabbed a 1-0 lead 12:55 into the contest on a goal from Lindsey Gladden that was assisted by Gwyneth Gleason.  Kerri Mountz had eight first half stops but the Falcons found the equalizer in the 31st minute as Makenzie Kistler scored off a feed from Elizabeth Lamm to make it 1-1 at the half.

The Pacers outshot the host 10-1 in the second stanza but could not find the game-winner, and Falcon netminder Cassandra Reijgers made eight second half stops to force overtime.

There, Cedar Crest's Mercedes Melo scored unassisted 1:58 in to end the game.

Marywood outshot the Falcons 17-15 but Cedar Crest placed 14 of their 15 shots on goal.  Marywoood had 12 shots on goal for the game. Mountz and Reijgers each made 11 saves in goal.  Each team also had 11 penalty corners.
