Scranton, Pa. – A strong first half gave host Marywood University a 14-point cushion and the Pacers went on to complete a season sweep of Clarks Summit University Wednesday evening in Scranton.  The Pacers (4-16, 4-9 CSAC) got a game-high 19 from Tip Swartz in the 70-49 win.

The victory also marked the third straight year Marywood has won both games of the season series against Clarks Summit. The Pacers last defeat at the hands of the Defenders came on January 13, 2014, extending their winning streak against their local rivals to seven games.

Clarks Summit fell to 1-19 (0-13 CSAC) with the loss.

In the first half, Swartz was on fire, going 5-of-7 from the floor and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc to lead the Pacers with 14.  Jeremy Ringland added 12 on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor as the duo combined for more than half of Marywood's first half points.

Clarks Summit, meanwhile, was held to just 9 of 28 shooting (32.1%) as a team in the opening half and was just 3 of 12 from long range. Marywood dominated the defensive boards in the first, doubling up the Defenders 16-8.

Tied at eight apiece seven minutes in, Marywood went on a 7-0 run that extended to 15-3 with 9:49 to go in the opening stanza. The Pacers would later be up 15 (33-18) with just under five to play and carried a comfortable lead into the locker room.

Marywood would maintain a double digit lead throughout the second a half and never allowed the Defenders to mount a threatening comeback. CSU only cut the deficit to 10 one time (45-35) before the Pacers extended their lead further.

Ringland finished with 18 for Marywood while Connor Shroyer's four-game streak of producing the team high for the Pacers came to an end.  The sophomore forward still recorded his fifth straight double digit game after adding 13.  James Curley also reached double figures with 11.

Marywood is back in action Saturday at Cairn as the Pacers and Highlanders will tip at approximately 3:00 pm.
