Scranton, Pa. – Despite struggling offensively early, Marywood University's women's basketball team ran its win streak to nine games with a 83-31 drubbing of visiting Clarks Summit University.  The Pacers (14-6) got a career and game high 19 points from Catie Nealon in the win as every dressed player scored.

With the win, Marywood maintains its one game lead for first place in the CSAC standings with a 10-1 league record. The Pacers also had a record night as their 52-point win will go down as the fourth biggest win in program history. The record is 56 points while Marywood has won by 53 two other times.

After falling behind 5-0 in the first five minutes to the winless Defenders (0-18, 0-11), Marywood relaxed and went on an 8-0 run to reclaim the lead, one they would not relinquish the rest of the way.  Marywood eventually closed the opening quarter with a 13-9 lead.

Marywood then put the game away with a strong second quarter, outscoring the visitors 23-4 in the stanza.  After allowing CSU to score just four points in the opening 4:38 of the second, Marywood closed on a 17-0 run to go into the halftime break with a 41-13.

Nealon had three treys in the period to help Marywood on their run. Lisa Steakin nailed a three at the halftime buzzer to close that 17-0 run for the Pacers.

Nealon led all scorers in the opening half with 13. Steakin had eight at the break while Jordan Barth and Alyssa Olson each had six. The Pacers were 40 percent from 3-point range while CSU hit just one of nine attempts and were held to just 28.6% shooting elsewhere.

The third quarter proved to be more of the same for both teams, as Marywood built a 61-24 lead by outscoring the visitors 20-8 in the frame.

Marywood tied a school record for longest winning streak.

In the end, four players reached double digits for Marywood led by Nealon's 19.  Steakin finished with 16 while Erika Thomas and Barth finished with 12.  Barth finished one rebound shy of a double-double after pulling down a game high nine boards.

Marywood returns to action Saturday with a road trip to Langhorne to face Cairn University at 1:00 pm.
