Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University's women's basketball team extended their program record win streak to 13 games and the Pacers secured the top seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference post-season for the second consecutive year with a 70-46 win over Cedar Crest College Wednesday evening at the Insalaco Arena.

Marywood improved to 18-6 overall and 14-1 in the league while the Falcons fell to 3-19 (1-14).

Gab Giordano and Erika Thomas shared game-highs of 15 points apiece while Natasha Hessling added 11 for the Pacers. Giordano and Hessling also each had eight boards.

Taylor Osley also had 15 to lead the Falcons. Tenille Steward added 12 and Geminii Cabrera had 11 as each team had three in double figures.

Marywood had an early 6-0 lead in the game but the visitors cut that lead to 10-9 by the end of the first quarter.  After Marywood built a 19-12 lead Cedar Crest used a three to get back into the game, and kept within striking distance until the break as the Pacers took a 26-19 lead into the locker room.

The third quarter proved to be the difference, as Marywood outscored the Falcons 25-12 in the period, extending their lead to 51-31 by the end of the frame. Marywood kept the visitors off the scoreboard for the last 4:07 of the third with a 10-0 run to close.

Marywood then held off Cedar Crest 19-15 in the fourth to maintain a 20-plus point edge the rest of the way.

The Pacers will now enjoy a first round bye and will host the lowest remaining seed on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:00 pm in the friendly confines of the Insalaco Arena, where the Pacers are currently 7-2 on the year (6-1 CSAC).

Marywood closes out the regular season Saturday when they host Neumann University at 1:00 pm.  With a win over the Knights Saturday, the Pacers would tie the 1986-87, 2010-11 and 2015-16 teams for the most wins in program history (19).

At halftime of the game, Marywood will honor the 21st class of inductees into the Athletics Hall of Fame, which includes that 1986-87 women's basketball team, the first to earn a NCAA tournament berth in school history, and Jamie Valis, the all-time women's tennis wins leader (singles, doubles and overall), will be honored.
