Cyclones Eliminate Marywood from Playoff Contention

Hackettstown, N.J. – Marywood University was eliminated from post-season playoff contention with a 77-62 loss at Centenary University Wednesday evening. The Pacers were led by James Curley who had 14 points.

Marywood dropped to 4-18, 4-11 in the CSAC. Centenary improved to 11-10 (7-8 CSAC) to hold their sixth-place slot in the standings for the final playoff berth.

Paul Jones had a game-high 18 points for Centenary.  Curley was held scoreless in the second half.  Jeremy Ringland added 13 while Connor Shroyer had 12 for the Pacers.  Three other Cyclones reached double figures in the win.

Neither team shot well from behind the arc, with Centenary hitting just five of 16 threes (31.3%) and Marywood connecting on seven of 21 (33.3%). 

The big difference in the game came on the boards, with the hosts out-rebounding Marywood 38-26.  Centenary also hit 22 free throws (33 attempts) to the Pacers' 15. 

Down 55-54 with 9:09 to go, Centenary reclaimed the lead on a layup and never relinquished the lead from there.  The Cylones would outscore Marywood 14-3 over the next seven minutes to put the game away.

The Pacers return to action Saturday at Immaculata.  Marywood and the Mighty Macs will tip off at approximately 3:00 pm following the women's game.
