Softball Falls to Hood; Nightcap vs. Millsaps Rained Out

Clermont, Fla. - Hood College defeated Marywood University 9-1 in the Pacers 2017 softball season opener in Clermont, Florida.  Hood improved to 2-3 on the year with the victory. The Pacers' second game of the day, scheduled against Millsaps College, was rained out after just two innings of play and will likely not be made up.

Kirstie Alvarez (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Marywood, giving up six runs in 4 2/3 innings.  Alverez struck out four in the defeat.  

Brooke Labs went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles while Mackie Goodwin doubled for Marywood.  Defensively, Lauryn Butler turned a nice double play in the third inning to prevent more damage from being done at the time.  With the game at 3-0, Butler picked up a ground ball and had an unassisted tag of the runner and finished with a throw to first to end the inning.  

Marywood takes on Hood again tomorrow at 6:00 pm and will follow with an 8:00 pm game against Stockton. Live stats for the game versus Stockton are available at marywoodpacers.com.
