Fort Pierce, Fla. - Marywood University dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Geneva College (Pa.) Tuesday in Fort Pierce, Florida.  The Pacers (1-4) fell 18-8 in the opener before dropping a one-run decision (6-5) to the Golden Tornadoes in an eight inning game two. Geneva improved to 4-6 win the wins.

Marywood plated two runs in the first inning of the opener thanks to a Vince Rebar RBI double and a Jake Schuster RBI single to right, but the Pacers allowed back-to-back seven run innings as Geneva built an early 14-2 lead after just two innings of play.

Marywood attempted a comeback with another two runs in the third, highlighted by an RBI single from Rebar and a Matt Staback RBI fielder's choice, but the Golden Tornadoes plated another four runs in the fourth to put the game out of way.  Marywood did have a three-run seventh as Chase Jones brought home two runs with a single to left in his only at-bat of the game.

Rebar finished the opener 3-for-5 with three RBI while Staback and Jones each had two RBI.  Justin Perez suffered the loss on the mound.  
 
In the nightcap, Rebar picked up another two hits (2-for-3) and two RBI while Mitch Clemons also had two RBI but Marywood fell in extra innings, 6-5.  

The Pacers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth when Rebar and Schuster each had RBI singles and Clemons brought home two more runs on a single to right, but Geneva scored five runs over the next two innings to take a 5-4 lead.

Marywood tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Rebar tripled to right to bring home Alan Nieto, but the Golden Tornadoes scored the winning run in the top of the eighth when a misplayed ball in center allowed a run to score from second.

Trevor Powers suffered the loss in game two without allowing an earned run.  Powers allowed four hits over 2.1 innings of relief work.  Salvatore Monello started and struck out five over 5.2 innings while allowing the first four runs, only two of which were earned.

Marywood is back in action Thursday with a doubleheader against Norwich University. Game one is set for an 11:00 am start.
