Vero Beach, Fla. – Marywood University fell to Norwich University 9-3 and 6-2 in a non-conference doubleheader at Historic Dodgertown on Thursday.  The Cadets moved to 3-7 on the year while the Pacers fell to 1-6 after the losses.

The Norwich offense had a slow start, allowing one run in the top of the first inning, but soon made a comeback in the bottom of the third, scoring four runs. With the bases loaded, Andrew Fisher hit a triple to left field, clearing hte bases for the Cadets. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Norwich scored two additional runs, increasing the lead to 6-1. 

Marywood answered with two runs in the top of the fifth, cutting Norwich's lead down to 6-3. The Cadets were ready to respond, however, and scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning.

James Goetz went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Marywood while Vince Rebar picked up an RBI.  Nathan Michener suffered the loss on the mound for the Pacers after allowing five runs over four innings.  Brian Bittlingmeyer pitched the final two innings, allowing three earned runs.

Every Norwich starting hitter that stepped to the plate collected at least one hit in the contest.

Starter Billy Whaley for Norwich did not allow Marywood to score through the rest of the game. Whaley allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks. He struck out nine batters and improves to 1-2 on the season.

In game two Norwich scored their first run in the in the top of the fourth and scored three additional runs that same inning, giving them a 4-1 against the Pacers. 

The Pacers answered with one run in the bottom of the fifth, to which Norwich responded by scoring an additional two runs in the top of the sixth.

Goetz again went 2-for-3 in the nightcap while Rebar and Alan Neito accounted for Marywood's two RBIs.  Justin Perez suffered the loss, allowing one earned run while striking out four.  Trevor Powers allowed two runs on three hits over the final three innings, striking out three.

Kyle Farguharson allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks over five and 1/3 innings of work. He fanned eight Pacers to move to 1-2 on the campaign. 

Marywood closes their spring break trip Friday with a doubleheader against Bethany (W.V.).
