Pacers Score Seven Straight to Mount Fourth Quarter Comeback

Aston, Pa. – Marywood University recovered from a three-goal fourth quarter deficit to upend Neumann University 13-10 Saturday in its Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse opener. The Pacers outscored the Knights 7-1 in the final stanza.

Marywood scored four times in a 59-second span at the 11-minute mark in the fourth to overtake the lead.

Matt Casto and Rob Maini led the Pacers with five points apiece. Casto netted three goals and two assists, while Maini supplied two goals and three assists.

Zach Vaughan and Luke Shedler each provided the team with two goals and an assist.

Bobby Sedlock paced the team defensively with four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Austin Maylor added six ground balls, and Justin Einwechter generated three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Riley Litman proved to be a difference maker at the faceoff-x with 10 ground balls. He won 18 of 27 faceoff chances.

Vinny Biancardi picked up the win with seven saves.

Trailing 9-6 going into the fourth quarter, Marywood scored seven unanswered goals. Vaughan set the wheels in motion with a goal from Maini with 12:59. Just over a minute later, Maini cut the deficit in half with a netter from Shedler. He came through again nine seconds later to even the score at 9-9.

Casto tallied the go-ahead goal 35 seconds afterwards on a pass via Skyler Swope. Again, nine seconds later, Vaughan connected on a Casto pass to go ahead 11-9 with 11 minutes remaining.

Marywood outscored Neumann by a 48-36 margin. The Pacers won the ground ball game by a 47-39 rate. The Pacers were successful on 90 percent (18 of 20) clear attempts.

Brendan Risley was stellar in goal for Neumann with 18 saves and 12 ground balls. Chase Fraser scored six goals and added eight ground balls.
