Keystone Takes Opening Two Games of Series Over Pacers

LaPlame, Pa. – Vince Rebar was 5-for-7 on the day and finished a double shy of hitting for the cycle in game two but Marywood fell to host Keystone College 7-1 and 9-8 in CSAC baseball action Thursday afternoon.

The Giants improved to 17-8 (9-2 CSAC) with the wins. Marywood fell to 7-14 (4-7).

Game one saw Keystone using the long ball to get the win as the Giants got three homers in the game, two of which came from the bat of Adam Kelly. 

Troy Terzi got the win for the Giants, allowing one run on five hits and two Keystone errors, striking out five along the way. 

James Goetz fell to 3-2, dropping his second straight decision after starting the year 3-0.  Goetz struck out three and allowed 10 hits.

Rebar was 2-for-3 in the opener with a double while Goetz also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Matt Staback had Marywood's lone RBI in the game.

Rebar picked up a homer, triple and single in the nightcap, falling just shy of the cycle as Keystone held off a late Marywood rally. The Giants got three important insurance runs in the sixth and held off a Marywood comeback in their last at-bat when the Pacers also plated three, coming up just a run short.

Salvatore Monello allowed seven earned runs in the loss, falling to 1-4 on the year. 

Tyle Widitz (2-0) got the win after pitching the middle three innings of relief.  Dylan Leahy earned the save after facing the final three Marywood batters.

Anthony Ferrezza was 3-for-3 with four RBI for the Giants in the nightcap.  Trevor Powers was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Marywood.  Staback picked up another two RBI as part of his 1-for-2 nightcap.

Marywood and Keystone will close out their three-game regular season series Monday afternoon in Scranton. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
