Pacers Threaten Early Against No. 11 Cabrini

Radnor, Pa. – Marywood University stood tied with No. 11 Cabrini University after one period before the Cavaliers took off for a 16-6 victory Tuesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse. It was the Cavaliers' smallest margin of victory in conference play since beating Gwynedd Mercy by four in 2015.
 
The Pacers were even at 3-3 after the first quarter. Cabrini recouped to outscore the Pacers 7-0 in the second.
 
Rob Maini scored a hat trick for the Pacers. Bobby Sedlock was stellar defensively with six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
Bill Morgan led the Cavaliers with four goals, three assists and seven points. Timmy Brooks and Jordan Krug both had four goals and an assist.
 
The Pacers' Chris Favale made 12 saves. His counterpart Matt Nestler stopped 11.
 
Marywood went ahead in the first two minutes when Matt Casto scored an unassisted tally at 13:16. Two minutes later, Morgan evened the score from Krug. Evan Downey gave Cabrini a slim 2-1 lead at the 6:40 mark. Seventeen seconds gone by, Maini made it a 2-2 game off the faceoff win. Morgan found net again at 3:17 from Zack Gregory. The Pacers went tit-for-tat again when Maini put one past the Cabrini keeper with 11 seconds left on the scoreboard.
 
Cabrini responded in typical fashion with seven unanswered goals in the second. Krug gave the Cavaliers the lead for good at 11:42.
 
Trailing 10-3 at the break, Marywood scored the only two goals of the third from Maini and Austin Maylor.
 
Cabrini showed success at the faceoff with 19 for 25 wins. Cabrini outshot the Pacers by a 53-26 clip.
 
Marywood hosts its Senior Day Saturday against Centenary University in a key matchup with playoff implications.
