Women's Lacrosse Punches No. 2 Seed with Seventh Straight Win

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University punched a first-round bye in the Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse playoffs with a 19-3 win Tuesday over Gwynedd Mercy University. The Pacers scored their seventh consecutive victory.
 
Sam Bussinelli and Ashley Valway provided seven point efforts to lead the Pacers. Bussinelli tallied four goals and three assists. Valway had three goals and four assists.
 
Katrina Kelly garnered four assists. Caitlin Watson recorded a hat trick and an assist. Gwyneth Gleason won five draw controls.
 
Natalie Burke provided two goals, two assists and five ground balls. Her three caused turnovers propel her within two of the program record.
 
Lauren Smith stopped half of her shots with three saves.
 
Kelly Ciabattone scored her first goal in her three-year career, and Maddy Langlotz recorded her first career assist.
 
Samantha Brown netted all three of Gwynedd Mercy's goals. Bria Gillard stopped 13 shots.
 
Regardless of Saturday's conference finale's outcome against Rosemont, Marywood will earn the No. 2 seed and face the highest remaining seed in the CSAC semis.
 
Marywood (10-4, 7-1 CSAC) outshot the Griffins by a 42-6 margin. The Pacers won the ground ball game with a 31-13 advantage. The Pacers doubled Gwynedd Mercy 16-8 in draws. The Pacers were successful on all nine of its clear attempts.
