Baseball Picks Up Non-Conference Win at King's

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. - Jake Schuster and Vince Rebar combined for seven RBI and Marywood University upended host King's College 12-8 in non-conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre Township. Marywood improved to 10-19 with the win while the Monarchs dropped to .500 at 15-15 on the year.

Schuster was 2-for-4 and Rebar 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Schuster homered and Rebar tripled, while Matt Staback doubled for his only hit of the game.  For Schuster, it was his first long-ball of his collegiate career.

Nathan Michener (1-1) got the win for Marywood after two innings of middle relief work. Michener allowed just one hit and was one of six Pacer pitchers on the afternoon.

Marywood grabbed a 2-0 lead in their first at-bat but the Monarchs answered with a five-run first of their own.

The Pacers then shut down the Monarchs then next five innings before a comeback bid from King's stalled after three runs in their final at-bat. 

Marywood tied the game in the fifth when Rebar singled home a run to get the Pacers within one then Schuster tied it with a RBI sacrifice fly to left that scored Trevor Powers.  

Schuster then put the Pacers up for good in the top of the sixth with a three-run blast to right.

Marywood hosts Cabrini Friday at 3:00 pm in CSAC action.
