Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University used two homeruns and seven extra base hits in all as the Pacers defeated visiting Cabrini University 13-5 in CSAC baseball action Friday afternoon.  The win moves Marywood to 11-19 overall and 6-10 in league play while the Cavaliers fell to 9-18 (3-13 CSAC).

Jake Schuster and Anthony Navaro each had their second homer of the season, with Schuster's coming inside-the-park.  Trevor Powers added two triples and Vince Rebar tripled as well.  Powers also doubled as did David Ortiz.

Salvatore Monello (2-5) got the win for Marywood after striking out three over six innings of work.  Justin Perez also fanned three over the final three innings.

Marywood jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first.  After a Rebar single brought in the first run of the game, Schuster hit a lazer to center that got past a diving centerfielder and rolled all the way to the fence, allowing the rookie to round the bases and bring home two runners as part of a three RBI homer.  

In the second, Marywood extended their lead to 7-0.  Schuster singled in two runs in his second at-bat and later scored on a throwing error after Matt Staback singled to left center.

Cabrini got one back in the top of the third, but Navaro gave the Pacers their seven-run cushion back with a solo shot to left in the bottom half of the frame.

Marywood tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth after Powers and Rebar hit back-to-back triples and Schuster's sac-fly to left brought home Rebar.  

In the fifth, the Marywood bats kept rolling.  Powers brought in yet another run on a sac fly to right as Marywood went up 11-1.  

Cabrini tried to make a game of it with a four-run sixth, hightlighted by a three-run shot over the right-center fence from Alex DelGiudice, but Monello would get out of the inning without further damage.

Perez shut down the Cavalier bats the rest of the way, allowing just three hits over the final three innings.  Marywood added runs in the seventh and eigth to compete their second-highest scoring output of the year. 

For the game, Schuster finished with six-RBI, falling one shy of the school record.  He was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.  Powers and Rebar each went 3-for-3 at the plate. Rebar had three RBI while Powers plated three runs.  Staback and Ortiz also enjoyed multi-hit games.

The two teams will be back in action tomorrow at 12:00 in a doubleheader to complete the three-game series.  Tomorrow's twinbill will be played at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor.
