Radnor, Pa. - Vince Rebar broke the singles game hits record and Marywood University's baseball team extended their win streak to four games as the Pacers completed a three-game sweep of Cabrini University Saturday. Marywood kept their bats hot in the 17-7 opening game win and took a close nightcap 3-1.  Marywood's playoff hopes remain alive as they improve to 13-19 overall and 8-10 in the CSAC.  Cabrini fell to 9-19 (3-15) with the losses.

Rebar dominated the opener, going 6-for-6 with three RBI and four runs scored. His six hits are the most in any single game in program history. He surpassed himself and three others that had been tied with five hits in a single game.  Rebar had a double, two homers and three singles in the opener.  In the nightcap, he was 1-for-2 with another homer.

With the scored tied 1-1 in the opening game after one inning of play, Marywood exploded for 10 runs in over the next two innings, five coming in each frame.  The Pacers then tacked on five more in the sixth and despite allowing a six-run last at-bat for the Cavaliers, went on to the 17-7 win.

Matt Staback (4-for-4, three RBI) was also hot in the nightcap, picking up a double.  Alan Navaro also homered and doubled as part of his 2-for-5, three RBI day.  Jake Schuster was 3-for-4 with two RBI while Austin Takvor and Trevor Powers had two RBI apiece as well.

James Goetz got the win to move to 4-3 on the year.  In 6.2 innings worked, Goetz struck out two.  Brian Bittlingmeyer got the final out.

In the much tighter nightcap, Marywood scored twice over the final two innings to edge the Cavaliers 3-1.  Justin Haddix went the distance, striking out two and allowing just four hits for his fourth win (4-4).  No Pacer had a multi-hit game, but Rebar and Goetz each homered while Staback had another double and was joined by Powers and Nieto.

The Pacers host crosstown rival The University of Scranton Monday at 4:00 pm.
