Immaculata, Pa. – Marywood University handed Immaculata University their first conference loss in eight games as the Pacers rallied from a 7-4 defeat in game one to defeat the Might Macs 13-4 in the nightcap Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletics Conference baseball action.  The Might Macs now stand at 12-4 (7-1) while the Pacers, who got five RBI from Vince Rebar in the nightcap, move to 7-11 (4-4).

Immaculata (12-4 overall) struggled early in game one, falling behind 4-0 after two innings of play, but plated four in the third and three in the fourth to take the lead for good.

Marywood jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.  Matt Staback picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice out, and Austin Takvor brought home two with a single through the left side, but Marywood left two runners on as the inning ended with runners on the corners.

The Pacers added another run in the second on an Alan Nieto RBI sac fly to left, but again Marywood stranded scoring opportunities as runners were left on second and third to end the inning.
In the fourth, Marywood left runners on second and third and could not bring in a run.

Down 7-4 in their final at-bat, Marywood loaded the bases with no outs but could not get a run across the plate.  A single, walk and error loaded the bases for the Pacers with no outs as Kyle Bacher appeared shaky in his save attempt, but the senior righty settled down and got a strikeout, infield fly pop-up and fly-out to right to end the threat and game.

In all, Marywood left 12 runners stranded on base in the game.  James Goetz suffered his first loss of the year on the mound despite a complete game effort. Goetz fanned two and allowed five earned runs.

Takvor was the lone Pacer with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with his two-RBI single. Trevor O'Brien improved to 3-1 with 10 strikeouts over the opening five innings for the win.

In the nightcap, Rebar caught fire, going 3-of-5 at the plate with five RBI and three runs scored to lift Marywood to the 13-4 win.

Marywood led 2-1 after two but plated 11 runs over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to dominate the game.  Marywood had a season high 18 hits, and allowed just five, in the win.

Taklor gave the Pacers the lead in the second with an RBI double down the left field line.  Trevor Powers would then single to right to score Taklor as Marywood took a 2-0 lead.

Leqading 2-1 in the fourth, Marywood plated three runs, highlighted by a Jake Schuster two-run single, to build a 5-1 lead.  Rebar brought in two of his five runs in a five-run Marywood fifth on a triple to center. Two others came on a two-run single in the fourth.

Salvatore Monello got his first win in four starts on the year after striking out three in 4.2 innings of work.  Billy McAuliffe pitched 2.1 innings in relief and allowed just two hits.

Marywood and Immaculata will close out their three-game regular season series tomorrow with a nine inning game in Scranton. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm.
