Cabrini Tops Women's Lacrosse in CSAC Championship

Radnor, Pa. – Marywood University's return to the Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse championship resulted in a 20-9 loss to Cabrini University Saturday. The Pacers will wait to learn if they receive an ECAC bid on Monday.

Cabrini defeated the Pacers by just two goals during their regular season meeting.

Ashley Valway led the Pacers with four goals. Erin Healy came off the bench to contribute a goal and an assist.

Gwyneth Gleason garnered six draw controls. Lauren Smith made 14 saves in a losing effort.

Cabrini blew the doors off of a one-goal game with nine unanswered tallies over a 22-minute span. After the Cavaliers went ahead with three goals in the first three minutes, Marywood responded with a pair. Katrina Kelly connected on a free-position shot at the 25:58 mark. Just under two minutes later, Valway took a Healy feed into the net to trim the deficit to 3-2.

Cabrini's Liz Hoeffner scored 10 goals to be named to the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Allie Vallen tacked on four goals and four assists, and CSAC Player of the Year Avery Murphy had six points on three goals and three assists.

Megan Barlow made seven saves for the victory.

The Pacers had a much-welcomed improvement in draw controls. Cabrini had a 18-13 advantage off of the whistle.
