DeSales Scores Late to Top Field Hockey, 1-0

Pacers travel to Kean Friday

Scranton, Pa. – DeSales University's Christie Hansen scored on a scrum in front of the Marywood net with 2:08 remaining in regulation to lift the Bulldogs to a 1-0 non-conference win over the Pacers in non-conference field hockey action Sunday afternoon in Scranton.

Kylie Honnick-Payne picked up the assist on the game-winner for the visitors. The Pacers fell to 1-3 on the young season while DeSales moved to 3-0.

The two teams were matched evenly throughout as Marywood out-shot the Bulldogs 14-10 with DeSales holding a 8-7 advantage in shots on goal. Marywood had nine penalty corners to eight for DeSales.

One of Marywood's best chances came in the final minutes of the first half when Lindsey Gladden's shot from six yards out went just wide left of the cage.

Kerri Mountz made six stops in goal for Marywood while Katarina Polyviou made seven in the shutout victory.

Kenzie Drew led the Marywood offense with five shots, two of which were on frame.  Sara Sterchak placed two of her three shots on goal and had a defensive save for the Pacers.

Up next for the Pacers is a non-conference tilt at Kean University in Union, New Jersey Friday evening at 7:30 pm.
