MILESTONE - Macciocco Scores 200th Career Victory

Hackettstown, N.J. – Tara Macciocco recorded her 200th career coaching victory on Thursday. Her Marywood University women's basketball team downed Centenary University 78-63 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

Macciocco becomes the third women's basketball coach in CSAC history to reach the 200-win milestone. She holds a career record of 200-158 with a career winning percentage of .558.

Aryah Aungst recorded a career-high 19 points to lead four Pacers in double figures. She made eight of 13 attempts from the field. Aungst also contributed five assists and three 3-pointers.

Gab Giordano flirted with a triple-double for the second time in as many weeks, coming a rebound and two assists short of the feat never achieved before in school history. She provided 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

For the second straight game, Erika Bistran was dominant from beyond the arc in an 18-point performance. She made four 3-pointers.

Catie Nealon also reached double figures with 13 points. Natasha Hessling finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

Marywood won its sixth consecutive game. The Pacers have won the past 22 games in the month of January dating back to 2015.

Marywood was 45.6 percent from the field. The Pacers made 46.2 percent (12 of 26) of their shots from long range. Centenary made 45 percent from the field but struggled mightily by making just one-third (5 of 15) from the charity strip.

The Pacers outscored the Cyclones' bench by a 24-0 margin.

Centenary jumped out of the game with the first four points before Giordano kicked off the Pacers' scoring with a 3-pointer. Bistran followed suit on the next possession to even the score at 6-6 with 7:13. Centenary hung around and took a two-point lead when Julia Presant hit a jumper. Nealon responded with the Pacers' third long-range bucket, but Rachel Edwards made a 3-pointer to give the Cyclones a 13-11 lead with 5:31 left in the first quarter.

Hessling evened the score at 13 apiece with 4:10. On the next Pacers' possession, Aungst gave the visitors the lead for good with a layup in the paint from Giordano. Edwards made her second 3-pointer of the quarter to trim the deficit to 20-19 to close out the first 10 minutes.

Marywood opened the second quarter with the first 10 points, adding a double-digit lead with Alyssa Olson's layup from Aungst with 7:15 remaining in the half.

Centenary did not come within double-digit for the entirety of the second half. Marywood made 56.7 percent of its shots in the second half.

Marywood moves above .500 for the first time all season with a 9-8 record. At 7-1, the Pacers take a half-game lead over Gwynedd Mercy University in the CSAC North Division.

Edwards led all scorers with 21 points for the Cyclones. Nicole Cartaino had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Presant added a dozen.

Marywood will host Cabrini University on Sunday at 2:00 pm. The game was rescheduled from Saturday due to electrical maintenance in the Insalaco Arena.
