Men's Soccer Ends Season in Double OT Playoff Thriller

Watch Zac Lloyd's goal

Dover, Del. – A 109th minute goal ended the Marywood University men's soccer season in the sixth-seeded Pacers' upset bid Tuesday in the Atlantic East Conference first round. Marywood was just 75 seconds shy of forcing a shootout before falling 2-1 in double overtime to No. 3 Wesley College.

With the Pacers playing a man-down, the Wolverines scored the golden goal on a rebound chance. Luis Cruz put in a rebound off of a Michael Donato save. Chimaobi Ikwuagwu headed a ball that was stopped by Donato, allowing Cruz the chance to send the Wolverines into a semifinal appearance versus Cabrini University.

Marywood scored an equalizer in the 87th minute. P.J. Fiore snagged a clear attempt from 26 yards away. Fiore delivered a ball into the box to Zac Lloyd. Lloyd stopped the ball with his chest to his right foot to set up a one-timer from 12 yards.

Following a scoreless first half, Deekai Gbonimy gave the Wolverines a 1-0 advantage in the 49th minute.

Mike Galllagher made four saves in the first overtime period. He finished with 11 for the game.

A Marywood red card 30 seconds into the second overtime put the Pacers at 10 men for the rest of the way. Shots by Tom Cuffari and Lloyd sailed just wide of goal in the 105th and 107th minutes, respectively.

Wesley outshot the Pacers by a 25-10 margin and 13-2 on target. The Wolverines had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
