Goodale's Late Goal Not Enough to Spark Men's Soccer

Immaculata, Pa. – A pair of Alex Noel goals put Immaculata University ahead of Marywood University 2-1 Saturday in Atlantic East Conference men's soccer action. The Pacers scored a late goal but were unable to put in an equalizer in the final minutes.

Trailing 2-0, Ian Goodale scored his second of the season in the 79th minute to cut the deficit in half. Goodale headed in a Carlos Perez cross that was lofted to the far post.

Noel ended the scoreless draw with 11 seconds remaining in the first half. Mark Staudenmayer slipped a pass that was kicked by Noel just from the top of the box.

In the 65th minute, Noel connected on a free kick from just outside of the box.

Only two other shots – both within 74 seconds of another – were on target for the rest of the game. Aram Aghababian's shot was stopped by Immac's Mikey Kalpokas in the 19th minute. Marywood keeper Mike Gallagher fended off a Nick Boule attempt in the 20th minute.

Both teams finished with six shots apiece. Marywood had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Marywood travels to Cabrini University on Wednesday night.
