Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Season Closes at Rosemont

Rosemont, Pa. - Four-seed Rosemont College got a game high 25 points from Charles Presley and the Ravens moved on to the CSAC men's basketball semifinals Wednesday night with a 97-58 win over #5 Marywood University Monday evening in first round playoff action.  The Pacers close their campaign at 15-11 while the hosts improved to 17-9.

Rosemont moves on to play at either #1 Cabrini or #2 Gwynedd Mercy Wednesday evening depending on the outcome of the other first round game Monday featuring #3 Neumann and #6 Keystone being played at 8:00 pm in Aston.

Presley's game high came on 7 of 12 shooting from the floor including a 5 of 8 mark from three point range. He was also a perfect 6-for-6 on the line.  Most impressively, the Raven's defense held First Team All-CSAC selection Thomas Swartz to just two points on the night. Swartz was held to 1-of-7 shooting from the floor and the nation's leading free throw shooter (94%) was kept off the free throw line all night.

Jeremy Ringland had a team high 12 for the Pacers but was the only Marywood player to reach double digits.  Rosemont also got 13 from Mekhi Clemons and 11 from Tarrell Willis in the win.

Up 5-4 just moments into the game, Rosemont used an 8-0 run over a 3:27 span to open things up and get some breathing room.  A pair of free throws from Donovan Catchings would end that run but the Ravens would be up 22-8 moments later after a jumper from Clemons.

The Ravens would extend their lead in the first to as many as 15 and would not let the Pacers back within single digits the rest of the way.

Marywood tied the program record with their 15 wins during the 2017-18 campaign, matching the program record set in the 2010-11 season (15-11, 9-7 CSAC). This year's squad won 10 conference games in the regular season for the first time in program history while sending the program to it's sixth post-season appearance.

Monday's game marked the final in uniform for seniors James Curley, Kendall Farrell and Jeremy Ringland.
