Softball Routs Rosemont for CSAC Wins

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University rolled to two Colonial States Athletic Conference wins over Rosemont College Tuesday afternoon in softball action. The Pacers defeated the visiting Ravens 15-0 and 10-1, both in five innings.

Sarah Witte led the way for the Pacers, collecting three doubles and four RBI in the two wins.

Marywood moves to 6-6 overall and 3-1 in the league with the wins. Rosemont dropped to 6-5 (2-2) with the losses.

After building a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the opener, Marywood exploded for eight runs in the second and followed with six more in the third to account for the total run output.  Kirstie Alvarez struck out three in the complete game win to improve to 4-2 on the year.  She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double.  Witte was 2-for-4 in the opener with a pair of doubles, RBI and runs scored.  Hannah Docalovich picked up three RBI.

Rosemont got on the board in the first inning of game two with a solo run, but the Pacers responded with s six run first of their own.  Marywood tacked on three in the second and one in the third.

Amanda Bridgwood (1-2) earned the win for Marywood, striking out two and allowing five hits in the complete game performance.  

Overall, Marywood out-hit Rosemont 31-11 over the two games.  Marywood collected 23 RBI on its 25 runs.

Marywood returns to action after Easter Break when it hosts Cabrini University in a CSAC doubleheader Tuesday, April 3. Game one starts at 3:00 pm.
