Men's Lacrosse Offense Erupts for 20 Goals in Rout of Ravens

Rosemont, Pa. – Marywood University rolled past Rosemont College for a 20-8 victory on Wednesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action. The Pacers moved to above .500 with a 5-4 overall and 2-0 CSAC record.

Austin Maylor scored five goals to lead the Pacers. He was one of three players with five points. Zach Vaughan had three goals and two assists. Rob Maini continued his march towards the century club with two goals and three assists.

Matt Casto provided the Pacers with three goals and an assist. Jeff Johnsen finished with a goal and two assists.

Alex Lunsmann saw his first action of the season with a pair of goals to his credit. Eric Morin and Luke Shedler each had two assists.

Defensively, Ryan Matthews, Riley Litman and Vaughan provided three ground balls. Litman won three-fourths (16-for-24) of his faceoff chances.

Freshman Matt Leen secured his first career victory with three saves in 41 minutes. Fellow frosh Jared Chichizola made one stop in 19 minutes.

Rosemont's Mart Porter kept away 19 Marywood shots. The Ravens' Dylan Hummel also had five points on three goals and two assists. Ben Koszelak had a hat trick, and Nick Giangiullo picked up six ground balls.

Rosemont (0-8, 0-2 CSAC) took an early lead on a Hummel game within the first 90 seconds. Maylor racked up his hat trick in the first 10 minutes of the game, scoring three of the first four Pacer goals to take a 4-1 lead. Koszelak halved the Pacers' lead (4-2) with 3:57 left in the first.

Marywood finished off the first stanza with two goals within 10 seconds. Maylor scored his fourth of the period from Jeff Johnsen with 12 seconds left. The Pacers struck again with two seconds to go on Maini's first of the game from Casto.

The Pacers scored eight straight goals over a span of three quarters. Seth D'Ver had a man-up goal from Maini to length the team's lead to 19-4.

Rosemont scored four of the last five goals to balance the scoreboard.

Rosemont was dogged by penalties. Nine penalties gave the Pacers' 7:30 of man-up chances. The Forest Green and Gold outshot the home team 63-19.

Marywood heads into Easter break on a two-game winning streak and seeks to lengthen that Wednesday at home against Neumann.
