Women's Tennis Falls to #2 Immaculata in CSAC Semi

Philadelphia, Pa. - #2 Immaculata University rallied from an early deficit at #3 doubles and then cruised to a 5-1 win over #3 Marywood University Friday afternoon in one of two CSAC women's tennis semifinals at Legacy Courts in Philadelphia.  The Mighty Macs (13-5) advance to take on top-seed Gwynedd Mercy, a 5-0 win over Clarks Summit in the other semifinal.

Marywood closes their season with an 8-5 overall mark.  The Pacers were 8-2 in CSAC play during the regular season.  Head Coach Dana Ciccotti, who took over the program in February, finishes her first season with a 8-3 (.727) overall mark.

Marywood led early at #3 doubles as Nicole Sinclair and Brooke Panek, recently named Second Team All-CSAC as a duo, buiit an early 5-2 lead. But the Mighty Macs' duo of Elizabeth Lipscomb and Cathering Zirolli rallied for a 8-6 win.

The Pacers' top doubles team of Abygail Doud and Danielle Ogonowski ended up earning Marywood's lone point of the semifinal as they defeated Immaculata's top doubles team, 8-4.

Immaculata took a 2-1 lead into singles action thanks to a 8-2 win from Caitlin Savage and Susan Callahan over Emily Zarrilli and Devin Zombek.

In singles, Callahan defeated Doud 6-1, 6-0 to give the Mighty Macs a 3-1 lead, and Caleigh Masterman followed with a 6-0, 6-1 over Ogonowski in the top singles flight to make it 4-1.

Lipscomb finished off the victory for the Mighty Macs, defeating Deena Mahdavi 6-3, 6-4.
