Men's Tennis Comes Up Short in Spring Opener

Kingston, Pa. – Marywood's men's tennis team lost their spring opener against Gwynedd Mercy today 7-2 in this Colonial State Athletic Conference match-up. The Pacers hosted the Griffins at the Wyoming Valley Indoor Tennis Club due to weather.
 
The Griffins started off on the right foot with a victory in the first set of doubles. The duo of Brian Irwin and Max Schneider downed Marywood's Bryon Scholl and Dev Patel 8-1. The Pacers team of John Shebby and Brendan O'Rourke answered right back in two doubles with a commanding win 8-0 over Trevor Vitz and Reggie Stephens.
 
In singles competition, Eddie Sanborn III got the best of Gwynedd's Reggie Stephens. Sanborn did not give up a single point in his two games against Stephens (6-0, 6-0). Ulises Munoz-Santos of Marywood gave Chris Wood of Gwynedd a tough match up. Munoz-Santos fell to Wood by one point in their second set, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
 
The Pacers look to turn things around tomorrow as they travel to Cabrini University.
