Women's Tennis Shuts Out Notre Dame

Kingston, Pa. – Marywood's women's tennis team blew out Notre Dame of Maryland University today at the Wyoming Valley Indoor Tennis Club. The Pacers shut out the Gators 9-0 in this Colonial State Athletic Conference match up. Marywood improves to 4-1 in the CSAC and 4-3 overall.
 
Marywood was in control of this match from the start.  In doubles play the Pacers only gave up one score in their three matches. Marywood's Abygail Doud and Danielle Ogonowski defeated Notre Dame's team of Sandy Vo and Cat Bruzdzinski 8-0 in the first doubles set. Followed by a convincing win by Devin Zombek and Emily Zarrilla over Ceida Portillo and Ashley Guy (8-1). Nicole Sinclair and Brooke Panek continued the Pacers success with a shutout against Beedhya Rai and Nnenne Odukwu (8-0).
 
In singles play, three Pacers including Nicole Sinclair, Deena Mahdavi, and Emily Edwards white washed their opponents without allowing a point in either set. Danielle Ogonowski only gave up one score against Sandy Vo in their first game of singles. Ogonowski won 6-1 and 6-0.
 
Marywood looks to continue their CSAC success against Keystone College tomorrow at home. In a match that was delayed from two weeks ago due to rain, the Pacers lead the Giants 3-0 after doubles.  Singles action will resume at 3:30 pm.
