Women's Lacrosse Finishes Season as ECAC Runners-Up

Gwyneth Gleason, Sam Bussinelli, Molly Yelencsics and Erin Healy named to all-tournament team

Galloway, N.J. - Marywood University finished its season as Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) runners-up following an 11-7 loss to Stockton University on Sunday. It is the second time in program history that Marywood came up short in the ECAC finals.

Sam Bussinelli, Gwyneth Gleason, Erin Healy and Molly Yelencsics were selected to the ECAC All-Tournament Team. Stockton's Tamara Torales was the choice for Most Valuable Player.

Bussinelli scored four goals to lead the Pacers. She finishes her season with a program-record 106 points.

Gleason was the only other Pacer with a multi-point effort. She figured in with a goal and an assist.

Yelencsics totaled five draw controls, four caused turnovers, and two ground balls. Sami Stein had a team-best three ground balls.

In goal, Mary Leahy made eight saves. Steven Ader stopped nine for the victory.

After a delayed start, both teams traded goals for the first 11 minutes. Gleason evened the score at 1-1 at 24:46, and Healy later squared it at two apiece at the 19:46 mark of the first.

Stockton pulled away with a pair of goals by Nicole Jandras and Abbey Yannacone. Bussinelli cut the deficit down to 4-3 with a goal from Gina Babcock.

The Ospreys used three-straight goals to take a four-goal lead in the latter minutes of the first half. Katrina Kelly made a free-position shot with 96 seconds remaining to head into break at a 7-4 deficit.

Marywood seemed to have momentum in its favor in the second half, limiting Stockton to without a goal for the first eight minutes. Bussinelli directed a Gleason feed to goal to move within two of the Ospreys. In a 2:39 time frame, Stockton piled on three straight goals to double the Pacers up at 10-5.

Stockton just edged Marywood 24-22 in shots. The Ospreys had a distinct 21-11 advantage in ground balls and 10-4 win in free-position shots. Both teams had 10 draws.

With 13 wins on the season, Marywood tied for the second-most in program history. Katie Tutak established herself as the winningest coach in program history with 50 wins.
