Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Pacers' Shooting Goes Cold in Loss to Ospreys

Galloway, N.J. – Marywood University opened the 2019 calendar year with a 53-43 loss to Stockton University Wednesday in non-conference women's basketball action. The Pacers dropped their third-straight game and slip to 4-8 on the season.

Aryah Aungst finished with a team-best 14 points. Natasha Hessling reached double figures in rebounds for the 11th time in 12 games. She was a field goal short of a double-double with 11 rebounds and eight points.

Marywood made the best of its 24 chances from the charity stripe. The Pacers made 79.2 percent of its free-throw attempts, allowing it to slip back in the game as the Ospreys made just 41.2 percent.

From the field, however, the Pacers connected on a paltry 20.8 percent of its shots. Stockton made 44 percent of its field goal attempts.

Stockton dominated the paint, tripling the Pacers (36-12) in production from close-range. Both teams combined for 40 turnovers.

Trailing by 16 in the fourth quarter, the Pacers went on an eight-point to move into single digits on a Natasha Hessling steal and fast break jumper with 5:44 left. Marywood cut it back to eight (49-41) again on a 3-pointer from Cait Reilly with just over four minutes remaining.

Marywood was held without a field goal for the rest of the way, managing just two points in the last four minutes on a Hessling pair of free throws.

The Pacers hope to get off the snide Saturday in the Atlantic East Conference opener. Marywood welcomes Wesley College at 1 pm.
