Cabrini Hands Women's Soccer First League Loss

Box Score Radnor, Pa. - Cabrini University used a pair of second half goals to hand visiting Marywood University their first conference loss of the season.  The Cavaliers defeated the Pacers 2-0 to improved to 10-3-1 (2-1-1 Atlantic East) with the win while the Pacers fell to 6-7 (3-1).

Becca Dolgas kept the hosts off the scoreboard late in the first half when she made a goal line clearance for the Pacers.

That scoreless first half affair changed just over 10 minutes into the second half when Cabrini used a long throw in at the 55:10 mark to create a scramble in front of the net. There, Marissa Portelli was able to tap home a close pass from Brianna Blair for the game's first goal.

Despite a couple of good opportunities at finding the equalizer, Marywood was held off the scoreboard.  In the 76th minute Cabrini would put the game out of reach when Bridget O'Neill's corner kick found the head of Maria Hagan for the insurance goal.

In all, Cabrini held a commanding 23-13 lead in shots, including a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal. They also had seven corners to two for the Pacers.  Bella DiToma made six saves in the loss.

Marywood hosts Wesley College Saturday at 1:00 pm in another pivotal Atlantic East matchup.  The Wolverines are in sole possession of first place in league standings at the moment. Saturday will also mark "Senior Day" for the Pacers.
