Men's Soccer Sparks for Six First-Half Goals in Nonconference Finale Win

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University wrapped up its non-conference men's soccer schedule with a 6-1 victory over College of St. Elizabeth on Wednesday. The Pacers sport a 5-7 record – an improvement of four wins over last season's overall mark – heading into Atlantic East Conference competition.

Zac Lloyd finished with two goals and an assist for the Pacers. Carlos Perez had a goal and two assists. Richard Fuchs added a pair of assists.

Senior goalkeeper Mike Gallagher finished with seven saves.

Lloyd opened the game with a tally in the sixth minute. He received a ball from Richard Fuchs from the left sideline and slipped a shot past the keeper into the left corner.

After the Eagles' Luis Salazar evened the score in the 13th minute, Troy Humphries produced his first career goal to put the Pacers back on top in the 19th. He tapped in a rebound off of a team save off of a Perez shot. Perez doubled the lead in the 23rd minute from Fuchs' second assist, putting in a cross from the left sideline.

Marywood added three more goals before the end of the first half. Lloyd blasted a 25-yard shot from the left side in the 30th. Cuffari delivered a well-constructed ball to the back for a 20-yard strike in the 34th minute. Aram Aghababian capped the first half scoring barrage in the 39th minute, tapping in a magnificent ball served from the left sideline from Dominic DeGeorge.

In spite of the score, the Pacers only outshot the Eagles by a 19-12 mark and 11-8 on target. The Pacers had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Marywood (5-7) heads to defending Atlantic East Conference champion Neumann University on Saturday in a rematch of a thrilling upset bid last season. The Pacers led the eventual top seed 1-0 before the Knights stormed back with two goals in the second half. Marywood is 5-8-3 vs. Neumann since 2008.
