Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pacers Edge Giants on Road, 83-82

LaPlume, Pa. - Playing in their fourth tight game in a row, Marywood University edged host Keystone College 83-82 in a non-conference men's basketball matchup between former conference rivals.  Marywood's (3-5) last four games have been decided by four points or less, with Marywood going 3-1 in those contests.

In tonight's regionally televised affair, the Pacers held a late lead and held off two last second attempts by the Giants (2-4).  The game was covered by Marywood alumn Bob Ide on MyTV WQMY.

Jack DeGroot (27) and Adam Boussatta (26) combined for 53 of the Pacers' 83 points. Marywood shot 50% from the floor for the game and nearly 80% from the charity stripe as they hit 23 of their 29 freebies.  The Pacers out-rebounded the hosts 37-27, had a 36-24 edge in points in the paint and scored 20 second chance points to that of seven for the Giants.

Jeremy Jordan had 22 to lead the Giants.

Coming into tonight's contest, both teams had won 11 games in the last 22 meetings.  Tonight would be just as even.  A back and forth affair much of the night, the game saw 17 ties and 14 lead changes throughout with no team lead by more than seven.

Marywood enjoyed their largest lead of the game after Jason Holman sank a pair of free throws with 9:33 to got to put the Pacers up five, 64-59.  A DeGroot jumper at the 8:37 mark kept the Pacers' lead at five (66-61), but Keystone roared back with a 5-0 run to tie the game at 66-66 after a Malik Hudges laup with 8:05 to go.

Keystone extended that run to seven and grabbed a quick 68-66 lead before DeGroot tied things up with a bucket in the lane. Back-to-back buckets from Boussatta put Marywood back up four, and the teams traded three pointers with just over four minutes to play to keep it close.

DeGroot and Boussatta each went one-of-two at the free throw line to put Marywood up 83-82 and each team traded turnovers with under 30 seconds left to give Keystone a final possession and shot at the win.  With four seconds left, Tom DeFilippo stole an inbounds pass but stepped on the endline, giving Keystone one final chance at the win.  After a timeout, strong defense by Marywood's Boussatta prevented a good look at the winning shot, which clanked off the front of the rim as the clock expired.

Marywood is back in action after a quick Thanksgiving break when they travel to King's College on Sunday, December 1. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
