Arlington, Va. – Fourth-seeded Marywood University fell to No. 1 Marymount University 3-1 Thursday in the Atlantic East Conference volleyball semifinals. The loss ends the Pacers' season at 14-19.
Marywood became the first Atlantic East team all season to win a set off of the Saints.
The Pacers fell by scores of 25-20, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19. Marymount will host No. 2 Neumann University in the Atlantic East championship on Saturday.
Peri Sheerin finished her career with 14 kills, three block assists and a .257 attack percentage. Fellow senior
Mikayla Attwood blocked eight shots (one solo, seven assist).
Jordan Vossler also completed her career with 22 digs.
Sara Burgos recorded 30 assists and eight digs.
Sam Compton provided 12 digs and four block assists.
The Saints were aided by 53 assists from Maggie Vinaird and 27 kills from Mykael Johnson.
In the second set, Marywood trailed 18-16 before winning nine of the last 10 points. The Pacers went on a seven-point run off of Burgos serves. A kill from Sheerin put the Pacers ahead 19-18. Compton and Attwood had a block to earn the point and even the game at 1-1.
The Pacers had nine blocks to the Saints' three. Marywood shot .152 for the match, and the Saints had a .149 attack percentage.
