Baseball Gets Two Wins, Sweeps Norwich

Fort Pierce, Fla. - Marywood University broke into the win column the Pacers swept Norwich University by scores of 9-0 and 10-4 Thursday afternoon in baseball action.

The Pacers (2-6) got a 3-for-4, three-run performance from Morgan Theobald in the opener.  Jake Schuster had two RBI as did Anthony Navaro.  Navaro doubled as well.  Salvatore Monello (1-0) got the win, stirking out two and allowing just four hits over 5.2 innings of work.  Nathan Michener pitched the final 1.1 innings, striking out one and allowing just one hit.

Bubba Klein was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Vinny D'Auria was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.  Marywood scored three times in the first, twice in the second and once in the third to build a 6-0 lead through three.  After a scoreless fourth, Marywood tacked on their final three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.  

In game two, Marywood scored five in the first to take control early. They used a four-run fifth to put the game out of reach.

Trevor Powers opened the big first for the Pacers with a two-run double to left.  Klein singled in a run before Austin Takvor brought another in with a sac fly. Joseph Bruno then drove in the final run of the inning with a single to left that scored Klein.  

Theobald and Michael Tempel both went 2-for-4 at the plate while Bruno finished 2-for-3.  Alex Ferriola (1-1) picked up his first collegiate win, striking out three over five innings of work. Antonio Ferraro and Nicholas Boyer each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Marywood closes out their spring break trip in Florida Friday with a doubleheader against Geneva (Pa.).
